A four-person team led by José María Pinilla (Project Manager, Natac) and Enric Gisbert (Head of the Aquiculture programme, IRTA), traveled to the LetSea facilities in Dønna into the Solfjellsjøen region of Norway, where the AQUOLIVE demo sea cage trial is taking place.
The team worked together with the LetSea crew to take the first fish samples from the trial. The fish have now an average weight of 1200 g and is the time for the first feed change. The samples (blood, mucus, skin, gill, liver, head, kidney, and intestine) will be analysed by IRTA to evaluate the health, welfare, and production parameters in the salmons. These results will allow Natac to evaluate the AQUOLIVE performance in these early stages of the growth cycle.
In the next days, the fish will be weighted and additional zootechnical parameters will be evaluated too.
